It might not be obvious, but Doug and Britni deserve an award for sticking this photo session out! It came during a particularly cold weekend recently that included lots of wind. Doug and Britni are two of our good friends – my husband and Doug were roommates in college, and I’ve known Britni since summer camp in Minnesota! I photographed their wedding in 2009, and now we’re both living in Alabama, albeit 3 hours apart. She asked that we take some photos during our recent weekend visit to see them, and I’m so glad we did! Even if it was cold.
She really wanted some fall colors, but the only ones I could find were outside a Hampton Inn. Don’t tell anyone :)
That said, it WAS a Hampton Inn, so we didn’t have a ton of space to work with and quickly moved on to this gorgeous field near the airport!
I initially chose it for the trees, but ended up falling in love with the golden grass and the evening sunset. They just recently moved to Alabama, so I hope these photos capture one of the quintessential parts of North Alabama – lots of open fields!
One last photo before we quickly ran to our cars to get some heat…! I love these two and I’m so glad they live so close to us now!
Even if you’re married and don’t have kids yet, you should STILL find time to have your photo taken together. I cherish the photos of my parents pre-kid days, and someday your children will too. I can’t wait to print some of the photos from my husband and I’s recent session – we’ve grown so much since we got married four years ago, and I know Doug and Britni feel the same way about their relationship.
