If you’ve had a conversation with me, I’ve probably brought up food at some point. I love trying new foods and restaurants! One I love about weddings is seeing personalities of each couple come out in their choice of food they choose to serve their wedding guests. Our caterer, Cakes By Audrey, helped us plan a menu that featured some of our favorite foods, and since then, encouraging my couples to have personalized menus has been important to me. Below is a photo from my wedding: three stations of Italian, Asian, and Mexican foods!
If you’re struggling with what you’d like to serve your wedding guests, I hope these suggestions will help you. Be sure to find a reputable caterer with experience, and they will certainly be able to guide you through this process. Hopefully, these will be aides for your brainstorming with them! If your guests will be waiting before dinner is served, or if you’d just like to serve them, I highly recommend considering appetizers. This couple chose to feature a variety of local cheeses. If you’re interested in having local food, visit a farmer’s market for ideas of things available in your area.
It’s also important to make sure the foods you choose are easy to eat. Your guests will be dressed formally and will probably be involved in lots of conversations. These bite-size caprese salads are classy and portable!
If you’re picturing a casual backyard wedding, you may not want to serve your guests a fancy steak dinner. These BBQ sliders are easy for your guests to eat, and also very filling!
Generally, your caterer will come up with creative presentation ideas. If you find a few things online you like, especially while looking through their work, be sure to let them know! Presentation goes a long way in conveying the tone of your reception.
This couple’s salad bar and condiments were displayed in an ice-filled canoe! Even if a canoe isn’t your style, you can always think of clever ways to include your interests in the dinner presentation. Table props like books for readers or vintage globes for travelers are fun touches of personality.
Don’t forget the sweets! Of course, your guests will have plenty of cake to eat, but no one will complain about additional desserts. This couple chose to feature different types of cookies homemade by their friends.
